FAQ

My hope is that our photography session will be a fun and easy process! If you have any questions that aren't answered below, drop me a line.

Why should I hire a professional photographer?

Have you thought about scheduling a professional photo session, but haven’t made it a priority yet? Time passes quickly and I’d love to capture you in your current season of life. If you’re wondering what the benefits are when hiring a pro, keep reading and please reach out if you have any questions. Stay tuned for a blog post about this in the near future!

1) Everyone gets to be in the photo!

2) Your photos will be edited by a professional using special software.

3) When necessary, photos will be retouched!

4) A photo session is a fun bonding experience!

Will I feel comfortable in front of the camera?

If you aren't used to being in front of the camera, I see you. In fact, nearly everyone I photograph starts off a session by confessing that they aren't naturally comfortable having their photo taken. That's ok! We will ease into the session, get to know each other, and roll with it. I'll follow your lead and will be happy to give you posing prompts if you'd like. We'll have fun together and that will show in the end results.

What should I wear?

What makes you feel most like yourself? Wear that! A photo shoot with me is casual and fun (unless you want it to be more formal). As a general rule of thumb, I recommend avoiding logos, extremely busy patterns, and all white. I'm also happy to provide consultation on your outfit selections. Read more tips here.

When can I expect my photos?

An online proofing gallery will be emailed within 3 days of your photo shoot. It will include unedited, low resolution images for you to "favorite." Please choose the number of images included in your package. Final, edited high resolution images will be sent to you within 10-12 business days.

Can you help choose a location for the shoot?

Yes! I have a handful of favorite places around Seattle (and the greater Seattle area) that I'm happy to recommend if you don't have something in mind! I also offer mini sessions at set locations at different times throughout the year. Together, we will figure out the best place for a photo shoot in Seattle! Location ideas include:

Seattle: University of Washington Arboretum | Center for Urban Horticulture | Gas Works Park | Green Lake | Meadowbrook Park | Northacres Park | Volunteer Park | Magnuson Park | Carkeek Park | Matthews Beach Park | Woodland Park Rose Garden | Golden Gardens | Ballard Locks | Kubota Garden

Outside of Seattle: Bothell Landing | Edmonds Waterfront/Beach | Juanita Bay Park | Richmond Beach Saltwater Park | O.O. Denny Park

What if it's rainy on the day of our shoot?

Light rain is ok, but if I'm not overbooked, we can discuss postponing to a date agreed upon by both parties. I monitor the forecast leading up to scheduled photo shoots and will communicate with you in advance if things are looking sketchy. And, if it's cloudy out, that's great! Overcast weather produces the most flattering soft light. It also helps keep heat at bay, so shooting temperatures are more comfortable for you.

Do your packages include prints or raw files?

Once your photo session is complete, I email a proofing gallery for you to review. You choose a number of favorites based on the package you have purchased. I will then complete final edits and return a gallery full of high-resolution digital downloads for you. Neither prints nor raw/unedited files are included.

How do I reserve a spot?

A 50% non-refundable deposit will be collected at the time of booking to reserve your session time. An invoice will be emailed to you. The balance of your photo session will be due upon receipt of your proofing gallery. In the event of a family emergency or extreme weather, I'll work with you to reschedule the session within three months of our originally agreed upon date.
